A watered winter allowed to recharge the soil and subsoil and avoid too much water stress in summer. It was also mild, except some frosts in February, and so announced propitious weather conditions for the 2015 vintage. Spring followed was perfect and the budbreak took place in good conditions. Then, from May dry weather with pleasant nights settled in Roussillon. Some storms in August helped to rebuild water reserves, combined with some windy periods led to a good ripeness and concentration of the berries.
With a moderate wind and this rather dry summer, sanitary condition was perfect when harvest started. The harvest, which ran from the third week of August to late September, was up 6% from the 2014 vintage.
The first red tanks are beautiful with an outstanding aromatic richness, they announce very expressive wines. Grenache are very colorful for this variety, with dense and complex flavor profiles. As for Syrah, they already reveal all their register, from fruits to spices. Carignan are full of freshness and precision, juicy and rich.
The 2015 vintage in Roussillon seems to be exceptional: fruity, rich and expressive with original aromatic notes while keeping a beautiful freshness. It contains all the qualities of a landmark vintage.
