Saint Chinian

Languedoc
visuel vin etiquette

Sources

Saint Chinian, Combejean, Pierrerue, Assignan, Quarante, Cruzy

Varieties

Mainly Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre

Blend

Our blend is widely dominated by Syrah which offers us a wide variety of mineral and floral expressions from the three types of soils: schist, sandstone and limestone clay. Here comes the main characteristic of our Saint Chinian, its double key of reading, based on three varieties from three different and complementary subsoils.

Other supplies of Mourvèdre and Grenache from a rather light limestone clay soil complete the blend, immediate in its mineral character, obvious.

Maturing

35 % tank
20 % demi muids (1 and 2 years old wood)
45 % barrels of 225 liters and 500 liters (new and 1 year old wood)

Tasting

The highly quaffable character of this Saint Chinian derives from the floral Syrah, grown on sandstone and chalky clay, the intense soft fruit of the Grenache and the structure of the exceptionally ripe Mourvèdre. It brings together the tulip, the iris, the Lilly of the valley and other bulb flowers expressions and a stony side which reminds the storm rain on hot stones.
