I have to offer you a fresh note on Hecht & Bannier’s 2007 Languedoc because it has become so much more complex and eloquent since I reviewed it (the first of its kind) in issue 183, and because I was so wrong about its being best enjoyed « over the coming 12-18 months. » Make that « now or over the next couple of years? » in as much as one can thus-far tell! There is now a floral dimension along with ripe dark berries in the nose that could have come from Syrah of real finesse. Ginger and salt tinge the ripe black fruits on a still-sappy, lush palate, with pungent herbs and hints of crushed stone adding complexity to a lip-smacking finish. US$14
