Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan. Deep crimson, rich colour. Wild and gamey nose, just softened by almost-not-there cherry aromas. Pretty snug fruit hunkering down on the core, with good mouthwatering acidity balanced out by the ripeness, but the tannins are aggressive and somewhat abrasive. Notes of graphite. A burn on the finish. The taste of singed thyme lingers. Also some dark cocoa powder. Needs decanting. (TC)
